We help individuals develop leadership skills through community service and business/social activities.

The Newport News Jaycees will offer many programs and ideas that benefit our community. The Virginia Jaycees provides support and training materials so that our chapter as well as other local chapter's programs can be run effectively.

The vision of the Newport News Jaycees is to be the chapter of opportunity for young adults 21 - 40 to reach their potential through community service.

The mission of the Virginia Jaycees is to create a better world by empowering young people. We are a people-development organization that seeks to create positive change in ourselves, our organization and our community by helping people through personal growth, leadership development and community involvement. Everything we do must encourage young people to become members and to take full advantage of our world-class fellowship, community service and leadership training opportunities.

This organization shall be a not-for-profit corporation, organized for such educational and charitable purposes as will promote and foster the growth and development of young person's civic organizations in the United States, designed to inculcate in the individual membership of such organization a spirit of genuine Americanism and civic interest, and as a supplementary education institute to provide them with opportunity for personal development and achievement and an avenue for intelligent participation by young persons in the affairs of the community, state and nation, and to develop true friendships and understanding among young persons of all nations.

The membership represents a variety of occupations, interests, social and economic backgrounds. The Jaycees have a dual purpose:
